New 1Cv2 tachograph: we're ready!
29/09/2023
Since August 21, 2023, all new vehicles have been equipped with the new generation 1Cv2 tachograph. This change means that all social data processing tools and software need to be updated. At Truckonline, this transition is going smoothly!

At Truckonline, we are constantly on the lookout for new legislation, and the announcement of this change in advance of its application enabled us to anticipate the need to adapt our solutions. Service continuity will be seamless for all vehicles registered after August 21, 2023. We have been working for over a year, in partnership with Stoneridge in particular, on the technical changes required by the new chrono, in order to integrate them directly into our software.
New features on the 1Cv2 tachograph
The new functionalities of the 1Cv2 tachograph are designed to enable authorities to better control cabotage rules on a European scale. GNSS geopositioning module, recording of border crossings at local time, geolocated loading and unloading, type of transport (goods or passengers): many information transmissions are automated...
By 2024, checks by law enforcement agencies should also be able to be carried out remotely. Thanks to the DSRC function of this intelligent tachograph, they will be able to stop only vehicles displaying an "anomaly". A detailed article on these developments can be found on Transport Info: " Introduction of the new tachograph on August 21: everything that's changing for hauliers ".
New regulations
This technical change is also accompanied by changes in social legislation. Among the new rules are the EU-wide ban on cabin rest, which is now permitted on trains and ferries; a compulsory return to the country of origin after a maximum of four weeks' work; and the use of the "bed" symbol extended to periods of leave and illness.
Certain changes have been made more flexible, notably the tolerance of an exceptional one-hour overrun of the daily or weekly driving time to reach the driver's home or the operations center.
